Springer-Verlag agrees to publish the book provisionally entitled Chaos: Classical and Quantum containing approx. 800 printed pages, including illustrations. The camera ready manuscript, prepared using the Springer LaTeX style files, shall be sent to the publisher by the Editors at the latest by 31st ?? 200?. The publisher reserves the right to reject additional material received after this date and to proceed with the publication. The publisher guarantees publication of the camera-ready manuscript within four months after reception of the final version of the camera-ready manuscript which must be send to the publisher both in electronic form and as a hardcopy ready for reproduction. 2. The authors of this book are: i) Dr. P. Cvitanovic, ....., ii) Dr. G. Vattay, iii) Dr. G. Tanner (still need to ask other contributors) 3. The Authors are responsible for the quality and the completeness of all of the manuscript, both from the scientific and the presentation (text, figures, tables, English language) point of view. Springer will provide the Authors with the relevant LaTeX macros free of charge. As a rule, colour figures cannot be accepted or must be paid for. 4. The Authors receive a joint royalty of 12% based on the net income (list price minus discount and VAT) for each sold and paid copy, including for non-net-priced special editions or bulk sales. Accounts will be settled annually in April for the preceding year. The Authors will decide together how the royalties are to be divided between them. The Authors will receive five copies of the published book (per Authors) free of charge. The Authors are entitled to purchase, for their personal use, Springer books at a discount of 33 1/3 % directly from Springer-Verlag. Resale of such copies is not permitted. 5. The Authors keep all rights concerning the electronic version of the book (both offline and online). This explicitly excludes any commercial use of the electronic version (both offline and online) for the duration of validity of this contract. Any (noncommercial) on- and offline presentation and distribution of the book and of its content will include the information that the material is copyrighted by Springer-Verlag (for those parts which are part of the current edition in print) for any medium except the electronic one (both online and offline), as well as include a link to the current edition of the book on the publisher's online catalogue. 6. The Authors grant and assign to Springer-Verlag the sole right to print (including printing on demand), publish and sell the said book throughout the world in printed form; translate, publish and sell the book in foreign languages; copyright the said book and renew the said copyright. It is assumed that the contributions contained in this book are original, except for such excerpts from copyrighted works as may be included with the permission of the copyright holder and author(s) thereof, are free of any libellous statements and do not infringe any copyright, trademark, patent, statuory right or property right of others. 7. The Authors will collect the signed copyright transfer statements for those chapters which have been written by contributing authors not listed under (2.). 8. Springer-Verlag has the sole right to grant licences for special editions of the work or parts of the work in the original or in the abridged form (e.g., paperback, book-club or micro-film editions, inclusions in collected works or in an anthology, advance printing or reprints in periodicals etc.) as well as licences translations into other languages and for use on radio or television or for electronic data processing including television programming, storage and transmission to other electronic data records. Negotiations will be conducted by Springer-Verlag in agreement with the editors. Any proceeds from the sale of such rights will be divided between Authors (jointly) and Springer-Verlag. 9. In the event of subsequent editions, they will be published by Springer-Verlag under the same terms as stated herein. 10. If, for whatever reason, the publisher does not keep the current edition of the book available (i.e. on stock and/or print-on-demand), all rights will be returned to the Authors upon their request. In this case the present contract expires. 11. This agreement shall be deemed under and shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. To signify your agreement with the terms outlined above, please sign both copies of this letter and return them for countersignature by the publisher. Thereafter you will receive one copy for your files.
