Mar 4 2004 Domenico Thomas Bartsch, Turgay Uzer and I have discussed a possible term project for you. Thomas and you can work out a detailed weekly schedule how the project will run, but roughly I would suggest it you divide it in 3 parts: 1) literature write up uniform approximations (Thomas thesis + several basic papers) 2) calculation reproduce a basic Airy-function type uniform approximation through a simple bifurcation (from Thomas thesis or other literature) 3) calculation implement a uniform approximation to a more complicated bifurcation, not published (but Thomas will suggest how to go about it) 1) and 2) are necessary to complete the project, 2) is additional (but more fun) Predrag
